RENAMING OF STREETS.

TO THE KDTTOn. Sir,—The_ writer of the letter in your Saturday's issue signed " Mornington Resident" mubt be a new resident, or he would have known that it was owing to the amalgamation of Mornington to the City that the names of some streets in the suburb had to be changed. The City Corporation agreed that the streets to be renamed and some others be called, as far as possible, after the names (without any distinction as to rank) of the men in the old borough who had volunteered and had been accepted for active service, and somo of those mentioned by "Resident" gave the full sacrifice of their lives. lam .sure that none of the families whose names arc mentioned have any.desire for publicity, but feel that their fellow-citizens are not' only honoring the boys who did their little bit, but, the great cause for which they volunteered.—l am. etc., Ax Old Resident. February 28.
