CITY POLICE COURT. (Before 11. Y. Widdowson, Esq., 5..M.) Drunkenness.—Two first offenders were fined 7s, with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment.—Donald M'Donald was fined 10s or 48 hours; and John Kendall, who had ;i record of 16 previous convictions, was sentenced to 14 davs' hard labor. Drainage Board Cases.—Edward Searl, for whom Mr James appeared, pleaded guilty to a breach of a Drainage Board by-law in that he failed to line a wooden sink used in his refreshment rooms with metal.—A fine of 20s was inflicted, with £1 8s costs. Thomas James Orr (Mr Adams) was proceeded against on two informations involving offences against the Drainage Board by-laws in connection with the fitting of a bath trap at his residence.—After hearing evidence His Worship dismissed both informations, allowing £1 Is costs. Mr A. C. Stephens appeared for the Drainage Board in each case. Maintenance.—ln the adjourned case in which complaint was made for the maintenance of his wife and child against Thomas Ireland (Mr Adams), Mr Hay, for Mrs Ireland, withdrew the claim as regards the wife.—After hearing counsel His Worship said that he could not hold that the defendant had failed to provide adequate maintenance for the child, and the complaint would be dismissed.
