NEW FREEZING WORKS
[Per United Press Association.] GISBORNE, FebnuH'y 3. The Poverty Bay farmers' freezing works were opened at Kaiteratahi to-day, LOCO townspeople journeying to the function. Tho foundation stone was laid on August 26. Tho erection of the works within six months is claimed to bo a. Dominion record. Mr W. D. Lysnar, chairman of director, mentioned "that one of the finst actions of the company was to inform the Imperial authorities of the establishment of tho works and their importance in relation to maintaining food supplies. The authorities readily consented to place the material and plant in the same category as war material, and thus the company obtained despatch, whilst tire plant for other '■works started 12 months before had reached tho docks at Homo and had been commandeered. The works have a present - capacity of 1,500 sheep daily, and will have an ultimate full capacity of 4,000.
