EXPORTS OF PRODUCE. WELLINGTON, October 7. ' Tbe exports of New Zealand products during the week ended on Tuesday were valued as follow ;—Butter £40,976. cheese £407, frozen lamb £15.838. frozen mutton £34,445, frozen beef, etc., £309.790, gold £55,994, grain and pulse £4Bl, hides and skins £12,079. kauri gum £13.037, flax and tow £3.592, tallow £3,712, timber £14,451. wool £15,070. The annual report of the above society states : No. 1 Group.—As the present period marks the tenth year of operations, the following particulars will be of interest to shareholders. The number of shares current on August 27, 1914. was 726. During the year seven shareholders, holding 18 shares, had their subscriptions placed to the credit of their repayment account and thereby obtained their discharge of mortgage. Subscriptions were withdrawn on 91 shares, and five shares were forfeited and cancelled. Tho present shave register consists of ; Total at present on the books, drawn in the free ballot, 135; drawn in the premium ballot, 103; unappropriated, 573; total, 612; less shares under notice of withdrawal 29, and shares on which subscriptions have been discontinued under rule 62. 24; shares at present entitled to share in the profits at the termination of the group, 559. Tii" total premiums secured to tho group amounts to £2.500, and as the balance to R of the profit and loss aconnt is £2,815 16s Bd, the whole of the former .sum is intact. This works out at £5 0s 8d per share. When it is remembered that the society’s rules were drawn with a view of selling cheap money—namely, at 2 per cent, over the repayment period—this result must be considered to he a satisiactory one. The directors would also draw atention to tho sum set down against working expenses, £195. which is less than 4 per cent, of the income. There have been nine ballot during the year, but the premium loans arc not now considered of iho same value ns formerly, and a. proposal giving the board power to reduce the premium will be placed before you. The total sum now secured to the group on mortgage is £23,354- No. 2 Gr inp.—With a view of inducing further subscribers to join this group proposals to amend the rules will be tabled for your consideration. These include the advantages of two free ballots to one premium ballot.
