The weekly meeting of the Cargill Road Literary Society was held last evfening.’ The subject was ‘ The Society’s Journal,’ the editor being Mr A. T. MTndoe. The Rev. F. T. Read occupied the chair. Mr MTndoe said, despite the Queen Carnival and other attractions, the attendance had been good, and interesting meeting® had been held. Some of the items in tie journal were : ‘A Trip to Queenstown’ and ‘ A Trip to Cairo ’ (by Private R. M'Gro- ■ gor), .also some humorous sketches. Letters were read from Gunner G.
