OTAGO ROWING ASSOCIATION
Tho annual report of the above states:— In submitting tho annual report for the past year, your committee consider that, under tho circumstances, the past season cannot but be considered a satisfactory one. The members of the various clubs have responded well to the Empire's call, and conseguentlv the membership of all clubs has beeii thus more or less affected. The Boxing Day Hegatta was held as usual at iort Chalmers, and took the form of a patriotic regatta, the only prizes being certificates, but it is pleasing to record that an excellent entry was received for all events, and there was as great a keenness to win a certificate as there was when prize money was given for prizes. The association's annual regatta was held at Port Chalmers on Anniversary Dav. The weather was excellent, and the regatta proved a very successful one, with the exception of a bitch that occurred regarding the use of the flagship, which necessitated the judges Judging the races from the dock, and thus all arrangements had to be altered at the last moment, which caused a misunderstanding 111 connection with two races. Ihe committee exceedingiv regretted that their arrangements were thus upset at the last moment, but the matter was one out of their control. The annual interprovincial race between Otago and Southland took place at this I regatta. The race proved a most interesting one from start to finish, and it was not until the judge's decision was announced that the actual winners were known, the verdict being in favor of Southland, who thus add another victory to their list. The Queenstown Regatta again proved a great attraction to rowing men and this regatta was carried out very successfully. The association desire to again thank our delegates to the N.Z.R.A. (Messrs R,. M. Isaacs and It. M. M'Villv) for the manner in. which they have reprasented us and looked after Otago's interests. Special thanks aro due to Mr W. J. Wilson for the vast amount of work he did in making all necessary arrangements in connection with the annual regatta. The season was commenced with a credit balance of £lB 5s 9d, and the balance-sheet now submitted shows a credit balance of £165 . J2s 6d. The various challenge trophies have been won as follows • Premiership Shield:,Otago, L 36 points; xsqrth End, 72 points; Oamaru, G4 points. Senior Cup: Otago, 24 points Junior Cup: North End, 21 points.. Maiden Cup: North End, 16 points.
