HAURARO LAWN TENNIS CLUB
The annual meeting of the Hauraro iiawn Tennis Club was held on Monday evening Mr C. S. Peake presiding over a fair attendance of members. " lhe committee's annua] report congratulated the club on the progress made during the past season. Durinc the year the club suffered greatly bv reason of many members leaving for the front, no fewer than 13 active players having been accepted for military service. Regret was expressed at the deaths of Messrs J. W. Bennett and E. Burnard. The finances are in a sound condition, and there is a balance of £6 15s 2d to credit. The report was adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr W. F. James (re-elected) ; secretary, Mr R Peake ; committee—Messrs "vv\'Thomas C. Macau, and R. Peake, Misses 6' Black, H. P. Black, V. James, and R Mitchell. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 2. The president was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for his kindness to the club during last season.
