MINING

The manager of the New Waitaia mine Kuaotunu, reports that he has commenced sloping north of No. 3 rise over the back of the low level. The reef looks well, bein°over 18m wide, of good pavable ore. The stapes at the south end of 'the block show mco ore, the reef being from 12in ‘to 15in wide. Above the intermediate level the reef isirom 9m to 12in wide in the stnpec north ana south of No. 3 rise. In the Mountain Kmg section the lode is very broken at present. This is expected to make again shortly as there is a nice solid reef ahead ill the level above. The battery is runnimn steadilv. * °
