The Kaiapoi left Westport yesterday afternoon for Port Chalmers. The Kaitangata left Greymouth this morning for Westport to complete loading for Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin. The Kaitauna is due at Greymouth to-morrow to load timber for Sydney. The Kakapo was expected to leave I Greymouth to-day with timber for Melbourne. The Kauri left Newcastle on Saturday for Lyttelton. The Waihora left Wellington on Saturday for Kaipara to load timber for Sydney. The Koromiko is expected to leave Newcastle to-morrow for Wellington. The Wanaka leaves Bluff to-morrow for Napier and Auckland. The Te Anau leaves to-morrow for West Coast via ports. The Wellington agents for the A. and A. Line have been advised that the chartered steamer Parattah has been fixed to leave New York on September 28 via Panama Canal for Lyttelton and Dunedin.

The Turakina left Cape Town on September 12 en route from London to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin.

Messrs Neill and Co.. Ltd., the local agents of the Oceanic Steam Ship Company, have received advice that the management have decided to establish a more frequent service between San Francisco and Sydney by the despatch of steamers every three weeks instead of four weeks, as has hitherto been done. The s.s. Sierra will enter the trade to overtake the increased traffic, and the improved service will commence with the s.s. Sonoma leaving San Francisco on November 16, and will be followed by the Sierra on December 9 and the Ventura- on December 28. This development secures to the public an improved' mail and passensrer connection, and is marked evidence of the increasing commercial relations be- j tween the Australasian colonies and the United States of America.
