RECRUITING IN OTAGO.
ME PARR iSATS OTAGO DOING WELL. (From Onr Own Reporter.) WELLINGTON, September 15. Mr C. J. Parr, who returned this morning from a recruiting visit to the South -Island, contends that Ota-jo has been doing very well in coiitributin"men. He declares that, the figures ~:t which the Auckland critics relv ar° wrong, as instead ot 200 he was credibly iiiiornu-d -that Otauo sent 473 men to the Eighth Reinforcements, and has 882 recruits for the next re inforcemeut, instead of 311. Against Auckland's 1,700, as contended, Mr Parr says Otago will easily raise a thousand men for the next departing force. He adds that the northern criticism -was evidently based on wrong figures, and deplores the raising of-the North, y. South cry.
