LATE SHIPPING
SAlLED—September 14. Kaitangata, s.s., 1,981 tons, Whyborne, for the West Coast. Vessels due here this week are the Batsford, Aparima, Tahiti, Kumara, Matatua, Whakatane, and Huninui. The Rakanoa, from Westport direct, is due at Port Chalmers to-morrow morning to discharge. The Kaitangata. sailed from Port Chalmers late to-day for the West Coast. The Harbor ' Board's submarine telephone cable connecting the pilot house on the Spit with the ileads was carried away, in the channel. The tug succeeded yesterday in recovering a portion of the cable, and the balance was expected to be recovered to-day. An expert is relaying the cable.
