HAMS AND BACON. WELLINGTON, August 26. The Department of Agriculture base received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated 24th inst;, in regard to the spot market prices of bacon and hams:— Bacon.—Market steady at previous quotations until the middle of July, the prico then advancing about 2s .Since then the reiarkefc has advanced very much, especial'y in the case of very good* quality, owin gto the small supply of Danish available, together with largo purchases of Irish bacon for the Government. There is a large sup ply of Canadian. Present quotations are: Irish, 104s to 105s: Danish, 104s to 105s; Canadian.' 88s to 80s. HJams.—'Market firm, with hardening tendency for English and Irish hams. Canadian and American are in large supply. Present quotations: English, 112s to 120s; Irish, 108s to 1245; Calandian, 74s to 80s; American, 68s to 70s. THE MARKETS. LONDON, August 24. Copper.—Spot, £65 ss; three months, £65 7s 6d. AUSTRALASIAN WOOL AT LONDON DOCKS. LONDON, August 24. Mr H. Duns tan Vavasour, - of North Canterbury, in the course of an interview, said he saw at the Victoria Albert Docks £IO,OOO worth of _ Australasian wool lying in the wet, some imperfectly covered with tarapulins, and much apparently rotting. He sngests that the embargo on the export should! be removed to prevent the glut. The Port of London Authority state that only a few hundred bales were stored in the open by shipowners in order to release ships. They resent the suggestion regarding rotting, and say that if any wool was wet it was due to a recent abnormal storm. The authority point out that they -are now handling practicallythe whole of the colonial wool instead of the usual 30 per cent., and the accommodation ip restricted b--the commandering of a large space. The Port Authority last year spent £150,000 on new accommodation. ' • ■ SYDNEY FOODSTUFFS. SYDNEY, August 26. A proclamation has readiusted produce prices as follows :—Bran, £6; pollard, £6 10s per ton. Butter (best), wholesale, 158s 8d; other grades proportionately.
