CRIMINAL SITTINGS
WELLINGTON. In the case mentioned yesterday in which Letitia Jane Hood was charged with publishing a defamatory libel concerning Lily Dalziell the prisoner pleaded guilty to publication, and not guilty to the main count, charging her with publishing the libel knowing it to be false. Tlie jury were unable to agree, and were, discharged. Sentence on the count admitted was deferred. Two ex-employees of the Wellington Harbor Board (John Cashman and Chas. Dempster) were found with a recommendation to mercy, of the theft, on June 3, of goods of tlie value of £sl 4s, the property of Butterworth Bros, Seuteuco was deferred.
