The deceased was a shearer by occupation and a member of the Second Reinforcements. Private HOWARD NEWTON, Welling ton Battalion. Mrs L. Wise, Waimea road, Nelson, mother. LATER ÜBT OF WOUNDED. WELLINGTON, May 7. CANTERBURY INFANTRY BATTALION. Privato L. Y. De' Villiers. Sergeant J. D. Hilsoii. Major A. E. Loach. Private T. Green. Major Albert E, Loach, 13th (North Canterbury and' Westland) Regiment, is second in command of the Canterbury Battalion. He served in South 'Africa, (1900-01). and received Queen's medal with five clasps. The death was cabled on Tuesday of Col. D. M'Bean Stewart, officer commanding the battalion.
