A recount of the votes polled in the Bay of Islands electorate differs scarcely at 'nil from that declared by the returning officer. The amended figures are • Vernon Reed (G.) 2,328. Dr Buck (0.) 2,220, a ■Wilkinson (G.) 1,576. The portfolios held by tho Hon. P. M. B. lusher will be administered temporarily bv his colleagues " I received Mr Fisher's resignation,"' said the Prime Minister, "with a very great deal of regret, and I am certain that a very large proportion of the people of the Dominion recognise that he has done excellent work both as a representative of the people ami us a Minister of the Crown. I feel certain that the time is not far distant when he will again he. called into the councils of tho Dominion, and I hope also to a Ministerial position. 1 should like to add that Mr Fisncr has hold office u\) to the present day at my social request, as there were a number of matters that required his personal attention, more pn t icularly in his capacity as Minister of Customs."
