THE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
WILL NOT LEAVE THIS WEEK,
MAORIS TO GO TO EGYPT.
[From Oun Paruaiilxmry Reporter.]
WELLINGTON, September 17. There is no prospect at present of the Expeditionary Force leaving the Dominion this week, but when the word from the Imperial authorities does come the public will lie given ample opportunity for farewelling the soldiers. As regards the Maoris, an Imperial Service contingent of 200 will be despatched as a separate unit to Egypt for 'training and service there. The Government have been communicating with the Imperial authorities in connection with the employment of the Maoris in the service of the Empire, but the new scheme, I understand, does not involve service in Europe.
