PRINCESS THEATRE

THE CASTING LAMES, Tile third turn in the second part of this week's programme at the Princess Theatre is provided by the Casting Lamy.s. They are four strong, and the thrills they provide average about that number to the minute. It is a "Flying Jordan" act, condensed, and embellished with comedy. The apparatus consists of four uprights .supporting narrow ha.-ed parallel bars, with a bouncing mat close to stage level. This gives enough space for a full swing between casters and cast, the former twinging head down and giving the pendultimann to the projectile. In this act the projectile is rotating, and it is this motion which gives the act its charm, its breathlessness, its artistry. Somersaults —how many of them the surprised onlooker means to count, but cannot for sheer amazement —intervene between take-off from wrists to the same haven on a different pair of wrists. Tim spin is, of course, in a vertical plane always. Mostly it is that of a football impelled by drop or place kick. Sometimes it resembles the gyration cf a spiral punt kick-—the side-line tinder for which the All Black M'Mimi was famous. And in this act the try is never unconverted, the line, is never missed. The evolutions are beautifully dean, and the. captivating rhythm fo "which everything is done overlies, and in the end smothers the trepidation to which everything that is done must give rise in a norma! audience. For the feats are astounding. The Lamys. who hail from America, appear to bo a youthful team, none of them specially developed muscularly, and none of them posing for effect. They do their dangerous work interestingly and prettily and safely; and No. 4 for is it No. 1?) of the team makes the breath, that was apprehensively drawn, exhale suddenly from the lungs in a burst of laughter. His attire is that of the down, his combination of selfmistrust and self-confidence is also that of the clown, and his performance is equal with that of any member of the troupe. Altogether this is an act not to be missed. There are other new turns, most excellent of their kind. Ray and Bay also unmistakably hail from America, and they hitTiard on their initial appearance hero. From the same land also come the New York Comedy Four—part-singers, with a basso soloist -who impinges with his voice, and confreres who contribute vocal accompaniments, as well as happy stage representations of John Bull, Iricle Sam, and the cosmopolitan beer-sparrer. The supporting artists are Andrews and Dent, Dennis Carney, Tillie Dunbar, Phillips and Merritt, * Vernon and Sinclair, Ea Fran.de, and Carlton Max, Tiio same programme will bo .presented to-night,
