In the Polico Court this afternoon, before Mr- H'. Y. Widdowson, S.M., Michael John Sheehan was charged with being an idle and disorderly person having insufficient lawful means of support, and also with 'being found on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order. Detective Hammerly said that he had known accused for the last 12 mortlis. He was a convicted thief, and had done no constant work since he was before the Court last February. Constable Howard said that accused had been wandering about the streets of South Dunedin for the last three months. Constable Bandy said that Die man bad not done sufficient work to earn an honest living. _ Ho was a casual laborer. His Worship ; " Casual laborers are often out of work.” Witness; “But yon never sec them hanging round comers like this man.” Accused said that he had been working as a casual laborer for the last, five months.
