OTAGO HUNT.
The Otago Hunt, in conjunction with the Taieri branch, held a very successful meet at Mosgiel on Saturday afternoon. The vantage points were well lined with spectators, and punctually at 3 o'clock the throw-off took place. The hounds quickly took up the scent, and made the run a cracker as far as Gibson's paddock, where they were momentarily at fault. They quickly got going again, and led the run successfully over the route to the East TaieTi road. The only lady to take part was Miss Mathias, from the south, and her riding was - a treat to watch. A few minor spills took place. It was gratifying to note that the local riders were well to the front at the finish. After partaking of Mrs Matheson's hospitality, tie Master (Mr Jordan) said the visiting members were well pleased with the efforts of the local branch, and hoped to partake of a good many similar runs on the Taieri before the season closed. The huntsman (Mr Corneilius) then gave a capital rendering of 'John Peel,' and after cheers had been given for Mrs Matheson, the Taieri branch, etc.. the party wended their way homewards, thoroughly pleased with their outing.
