SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY

The Mornington Baptist Church Sunday School anniversary services were held yesterday. In the morning Mr John Reid, ±5.A., conducted the service, speaking first to the children on geography, grammar, and arithmetic of the text "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you," Matthew vi., 33. Mr Reid then addressed the parents particularly from the text "Bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Ephesians i At the afternoon service Mr A. Hoare gave an ■ address' to the children on "Small Things Count." The evening service was taken by the pastor, the Rev. F. Oldrieve, assisted by Mr Hoare, when there was a large attendance, extra seats having to be provided. The pastor took as his text Exodus ii., 9 : "Take this child . . . and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages," pointing out first the importance of the child in the home, then the necessity for training a child in order to overcome the evil tendencies and to develop the good ones in its nature.

A feature of the services was the singing by the Sunday School scholars, assisted by the church choir and friends, under the direction of Mr H. P. Desmoulins. Mrs Barnes and Mr Glover, assisted by Mrs Desmoulins, played the accompaniments on the piano arid organ respectively. The church was tastefully decorated.
