Silver is quoted at per oz. The quantity of butter in cool store at the several ports of the Dominion on Apnl 30 is as follows :—Auckland, 32,471 boxes; New Plymouth, 12,184 boxes; Fatea, 747 boxes;. Wanganui, 8,429 boxes; Wellington, 32,922 boxes; Lyttelton, 3,695b0xe5; Dunedin, 3,614 boxes; total, 88,062 boxes. The total on April 30, 1913. was 64,254 boxes, and on April 30, 1912, it was 54,832 boxes.

STARR BOWKETT SOCIETIES. The United Starr Bowkett Building Society held a meeting of members at Hugh Mitchell and Co.'s office last evening, when there was a very laTge attendance, the business being to dispose of four appropriations of £SOO each. The ballot for the 165 th appropriation in No.. 1 group was drawn by cluster No. 179, beta bv two members. The sale of the 166 th appropriation in the same group realised £6 per £ioo. The ballot for the 37th appropriation in the No. 2 group was drawn by cluster No. 215,. held, by one member. The SixtK appropriation in No. 3 group was sold at £6l per £IOO. Mr E. A. Rosevear, chairman of directors, who presided, stated that 1,550 shares had now been applied for in No. 3 gTonp, and applications were still being received, and could be received until the total reached 2,000. He thanked all those present for the assistance given in placing shares and the general assistance given to the directors in the work of the society. A meeting of members of the Otago Mutual Starr Bowkett Society .was held last evening at the secretary's office. Mr J H. Wilkinson (chairman of directors) presided. The free loan of £SOO was drawn by cluster No. 97, held by two members, and the sale loan of £SOO realised £24 per £IOO. It was mentioned that applications for shares in the No. 2 group were coming in, and that it was hoped to make an early start with that group. *
