STRIKE ECHOES
[Pes United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. The secretary of the Storenien's Union recently wrote to the Prime Minister protesting against the attitude of the executive of tho Wharf Laborers' Union in refusing to carry out the rules of the union, and requesting the Minister to take action to enforce their fulfilment. Mr Massey, in reply, states that similar representations had been made by other unions, but the Solicitor-General had advised that neither the Government nor the Labor Department could interfere with the internal management of a union, or order an amendment of its rules. The members of each union had full power to take steps to amend the rules, and if the executive were not complying with them it was open for members to take legal proceedings to compel them to do so.
