There is a good selea tion of cro.ss-breds but few merinos. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. [Per Untied Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. The High Commissioner’s market report dated London, April 28, says:—The wool sales have commenced. There is a large attendance, including American representatives. Competition is strong for merinos. Fine cross-hretls, all grades, average from par to dearer, while medium coarse cross- bred.= of all grades are very firm at closing rates at last sales. Bidding was keen.” The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agencv Company are in receipt of a cable bearing yesterday’s date, which says; There "was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home, Continental, and American buyers being active, and prices, as compared with close of preeding series, ruled par up to 5 per cent, higher for merino and prime cross-bred wool ; market firm for other wool.
