Captain Guy Gaunt has been appointed British Naval Attache at Washington, United States. An aviator named Marty, while aeroplaning at Hendon (Eng.), fell from a height of 200 ft and was killed. An engine collided with the Great Central Cup train at Finchley (London), when 23 persons were injured. The death is announced of Mr Thomas J. Barratt, chairman of the A. and F. Pears Soap Company, and the father of modern methods of advertising. The Emperor Franz Josef is, according to latest bulletins, making favorable progress. The death is announced of Sir G. Doughty, the Unionist M.P. for Great Grimsby, England. At Tokio, Morris, an army aviator, fell 1.600 ft in his biplane, which cau-ht fire. Morris was incinerated. The House of Commons is defeating the second reading of the Plural Voting Bill. It is officially announced that Japan will exhibit at .the Panama Exposition. The , Advisory Council have decided to hold, an Imperial Education Conference in London in 1917.
