PALMERSTON NOTES
On Wednesday last three rinks of bowlers from the. Dunedin Club came to Palt&erston to play the local club. The visitors, although a strong team, were defeated by 14 points. The Waikouaiti tennis players cam© to Palmerston for a friendly match on Saturday last, the team consisting of four ladies and four gentlemen. The play was of a poor standard, all tho players seeming to want practice. Palmerston won the match by six sets. Last evening about 50 householders met to elect the new school committee. Seven of the retiring members —namely, Messrs Pickett, Pittaway, L. Barclay, Sutherland, Morris, 31‘Gregor, and Allcock—were re-elected, the new members being Messrs O. Barclay and A. Torrance. Mr Torrance was chosen chairman for the coming year.—Own correspondent, April 28.
