SCHOOL COMMITTEES
Additional resalts: — Sawyers Bay.—The large attendance of householders indicated that interest in school matters in the district continues to increase. A lengthy report was read dealing with every branch of the school work, and the balance-sheet indicated sound finance, there being a credit balance in the library, prize, picnic, and general funds. Over 100 volumes had been added, to the school library during the year. The Navy League was on the up-grade, and thanks were expressed to the secretary of the Otago branch for the interest he maintains in the work and for the lecture he gave during* the year. The nomination of candidates far exceeded the number of committeeeraen required, and the following were elected :■ —Messrs A. Boyd, P. Marfel, W. 11. Horn, W. Tiffany, A. Green, R. Harkness, and R. Long. Mr Horn- was elected chairman, and Mr Marfel honorary secretary. East Taieri. —Messrs Jas. Henderson, Thomas Williams, John Garrett, William Connor, E. Pellowe (chairman), James Henderson (secretary and -treasurer). Whare Elat.—Messrs D. M'Quilkan (chairman),' R. M’Meekin (clerk), T. Cbittleburgh, J. Bnndson, C. Wise. Allanton. —A fair attendance of residents elected the new committee as follows ; —Messrs John Callander, Robert Cullen, Alfred Pitfield, Peter Ralston, Peter Wilkie, Robert Downie, and John Schriffer; Mr Callander being appointed chairman and secretary. Sandyraount. —Messrs George M'Donald (chairman), John Riddell (secretary and treasurer), Jas. Garr, William Stewart, Jno. Aitken,. Jno.' Lamond, and Hugh Hughes were elected. Higholiff. —The newly-elected committee is as follows: —Messrs Jas. Fairbairn (chairman), Jno. Bishop (secretary and treasurer), William Henderson, David Robertson, Robert - Brunton, Jno. Stuart, and Jno. Landreth.
