LONDON, March 4. (Received March 5, at 10.45 a.m.) Hu"h Dalrymple, an ex-convict, sued Baroness Von Goetz, a wealthy philanthropist and organiser of a farm for discharged prisoners. Dalrymple alleged had loaned the Baroness money, and he produced scores of alleged letters from the Baroness containing endearments. , . . • i In the course' of a sensational crossexamination counsel proved that Dalrymple was convicted of frauds on women in 1896 Then, in order to explain discrepancies in the letters, Dalrymple alleged that a twin brother was responsible. Dalrymple's counsel; threw up his brief, and. a verdict was returned for defendant. The Judge impounded 100 letters, which were obvious forgeries. Evidence was given that the Baroness i had £40,000 in the bank at the time of J_the bh".lfma.ilina.
