The latest charter announced to New Zealand is the Strathdene, 4,321 tons, from India, -with coal. According to a new law, all steamers arriving at or departing from Argentine ports with 50 or more souls on board between crews and passengers (if anv) must be fitted with wireless telegraphy. The law also requires that there be a competent operator on board, and that the installation be capable of transmitting messages 300 miles at sea. This regulation will not affect tramp steamers unless when carrying cattle. A Sydney cablegram states that fresh reeolations have been gazetted governing harbor navigation in New South Wales. Monowai, s.s., arrived from Auckland yesterday, and sails at noon to-morrow for the same port, connecting there with the Maheno for Sydney. Manuka, t.s.s., from Melbourne, was expected at Bluff about 1 this afternoon, and should reach Dunedin by 10 to-morrow morning. She sails from Port Chalmers on Wednesday for Sydnev via Cook Strait. Kittawa, s.s., leaves Westport for Dunedin to-night, and is due on Thursday. Taviuni, s.s., from West Coast via Bluff, is due here on Wednesday morning, sailing on Thursday upon the return run. Aparima, s.s., leaves LVttelton to-mor-row for Dunedin via Timaru, and is due here at the end of the week. Waitomo, s.s., arrived yesterday from Bluff with Newcastle coal, and came on to Dunedin this morning. She has about 5,000 tons to discharge. Waiwera, s.s., left Port Chalmers yesterday morning for Picton and Wellington. While here she loaded 907 bales wool, 666 bales sheepskins, 7 bales rabbitskins, 1 bale hair, 1,826 crates cheese, 1,804 boxes butter, 4 bales leathr, 279 baas scheelite, 264 sacks grass seed, 144 bales tow, 71 bales hemp. 5 casks tallow, 14 casks pelts, 3 casks casings, and 4 packages sundries. Invercargiil, s.s., came out of dock this afternoon, and came up to Dunedin. She * sails for Invercargiil to-morrow. Kotare, s.a., went down to Port Chalmers this afternoon for docking.
