POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT
EMPLOYEES DISSATISFIED.
The discontent among the Post and Telegraph employees was discussed at a very largo meeting of the G-isborne branch of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association last night, A resolution was passed affirming the action of the conference of delegates in refusing to withdraw the first of their resolutions placed before the Cornmissioners, and deploring the fact that the Commissioners refused to hear the conference delegates, who represented 85 per cent, of tho officers of the ..Post and Telegraph Department. The resolution concluded by placing or record " a strong protest against the too high-handed action of the Commissioners in refusing to hear the delegation." About 60 members of the Hawke's Bav branch of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association met at Napier last evening and passed, the following resolutions:— _ 1. That this branch, having fully considered the crisis between the conference delegates and the Commissioners, unanimously resolve that the protest embodied in the alleged impeachment resolution is endorsed by this branch of the Pest and Telegraph Association, and dissatisfaction permeated the service as a result thereof. 2. That this branch are of opinion that had the delegation which waited on the Commissioners altered or withdrawn the resolution, which was the product of the mature consideration of conference, they would have been guilty of betraying their trust, and in view of the circumstances this branch desire to express their high appreciation of the sta.nd taken by the president and delegation in refusing to withdraw the contentious preamble. 3. That this branch assure their president and executive of their continued and unabated loyalty, and their confidence in their ability to guide the destinies of the association in this gravo and critical moment.
