ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
To mark the close of another year's work the members of the Dunedin nursing division and the St. John Ambulance Brigade met at the Dominion Tea Dooms last evening. A musical and elocutionary programme was presented, the following contributing:—Miss M. CJihnour. Miss K. Roadie, .Mr J. E. Bone, Miss Healev, and Mr T. Thomson. During the evening. Mr J. E. Bone, on behalf of the nursing division, presented Miss Hooper with a gold bangle as ;s, token of esteem, and referred to her long connection with the division and to the work accomplished in connection with the St. John ambulance work in this City. Miss Hooper, who has been connected with tho division since its inception in 1895, and for 12 years lady superintendent, thanked those present for the gilt, which, she said, would serve as a reminder of their work together. She trusted they would holt! together in the future as they had done in the past. She thanked the oflicers for their loyalty and help during her term of cilice, and assured the divisionthat they wore being left in good hands under their new lady superintendent (Mrs Forrester 1 , who would be ably supported by the oHieers. Mr V,'. M. Wilkinson, superintendent of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, presented Misses Hooper and J. Stewart each with a fountain pen in appreciation of the help (given them at their winter nursing lecture... Both ladies suitably teplied. Annual Itepoit.—
The following is the annual report of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Dunedin nursing division: —"The year 1915 has boon an eventful one in the history of the division. Lectures were given by Dr Barnet) (lion, associate of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in Kngland). l)r K. 11. Williams (lion, surgeon), Dr Deck, and Dr Ro>a Collier ihon. surgeon). /Miss J. Alexander ihon. secretary) and Miss [sa Walker (ladv inspector of stores) resigned during the'vear, a cause of rgret to the division. Miss M. 11. Carnie was appointed hon. secretary. Letters were received from Mrs Dalton (lady suporintendent-in-chief of the Nursing Divisions Brigade Overseas! and Mrs C. A. Lines (of St. Johns. Clerkenwell, London). Considerable attention was given to the practical work by the lady superintendent and officers. The lady superintendent gave a short address, with practical demonstrations, to tho Early Settlers' Club, also to the Green Island nursing division. Two squads gave demonstrations at the St. John Ambulance Association's annual meeting. Officers and nursing sisters assisted at the association's winter classes, and at the Education Board's nursing classes. Some helped the Scout Girls in" their practices, and others helped on Hospital Saturday, two squads attending at the show grounds, and two helped in the first-aid classes at St. Hilda's School, and two at the Ambulance Brigade's nursing class. Many cases of first aid and nursing were attended to by the si-ten,. The statement of accounts showed a satisfactory balance, the division being supported entirely by members' subscriptions. The annual re-examination was conducted by Dr Barnett (district chief surgeon of Dunedin), who congratulated the lady superintendent very heartily on the high state of efficiency reached by the members. Captain Fleming carried out the inspection. Fifteen new members joined during the year. Miss Hooper was promoted to he corps lady superintendent of Dunedin. Caversham, and Green Island division and Mrs Forrester to be divisional lady superintendent of the Dunedin division. The Dunedin work will cease till after the holida-vs.
