DOMAIN BOARD

The monthly meeting of tho Ocean Beach Domain Board, held yesterday, was presided over by Mr J. H. Hancock. With reference to the clearance of sand at the south-west corner of the society's ground, the secretary of the Otago A. and P. Association wrote stating that his committee would be glad if the board would remove a, further quantity of sand, to en able the fence to lie erected in a direct line from the row of elder trees inside their stock entrance. The board could, no doubt, utilise the sand, and after its removal the society would top-dress the area, and erect the fence where- required. ■ —The Chairman stated that at present the society's cattle yards were too far away from the main part of the shoTy, ground". They desired a further clearance of sand, thus giving them a better entrance to their yards. There could be no objection to the application, and it would mean an extension of Tahuna Park.—lt was decided to grant the application during the pleasure of tho board, subject to the resumption of a portion of tho board's land at the other end. The charge for rental was fixed at £1 a war. J. Norrie (Timaru) wrote making application for permission to erect a merry-go-round at St. Kilda and an ocean wave at St. Clair. —Tho Chairman stated that there was no area at either of these places large enough for these machines. He would move that the request be declined.—Mr Shacklock seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. It was decided that a levy for the board's operations should be fixed at the same amount as last year—viz., City of Dunedin. £292 15s 7d; Mornington, £lB 4s Id ; St. Kilda, £23 14s lid ; Maori Hill, £lO 9s 3d. The Town Clerk submitted a copy of a clause in the Bill for presentation 'to Parliament, which has been prepared with the object of vesting the St. Clair baths and any other of the board's lands in the City Corporation.—'Approved.
