FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT CARTERTON. [Feb United Press Association.] CARTERTON, Mav 19. A fire occurred in the main street yesterday. The outbreak started in a wooden building occupied by Mr Savage, cabinetmaker, and spread to premises occupied by Mr Armstrong (saddler) and Mr Phillips (solicitor). The fire had a good hold when it was discovered. Mr Armstrong's stqca. was saved, but Mr Savage lost everything. Insurances; Savage, £550 in the South British; Armstrong, £260 in the Queensland and Commercial Union. The insurances on the building are not available.
