THE BURNS CLUB.
In the Art Gallery Hail last evening the Dunedin Burns Club gave a concert to a very largo audience. After Piper Morrison had played a selection, the president (Mr IV. B. M'Ewan) gave an address on 1 The Life of David Livingstone.’ Vocal items were contributed by Miss Shepperd (‘Angus M‘Donald’). Mr and Miss M‘Lean (who sang the duet ‘ Hoo can ye gang ’), Mr B. Stevens (‘ The Gallant Salamander’), Mr J. Kerr (‘Plymouth Hoe’), and Mr J. Paterson (‘Bonnie Bessie Lee ’). Humorous items were contributed by Mr A. G. Crerar (whoeang ‘Duncan MHiitosh') and Mr G. Porteous (whoselected ‘ The Henpecked Husband ’). both items being provocative of genuine mirth A quartet, comprising Misses Blunden and Ellis and Messrs Cook and Paterson, sang ‘ The Stepping Stanes,’ and the choir contributed ‘ Killarney,’ ‘ Scotland Yet,’ and ‘O. Nannie, wilt thou gang \vi’ me.’ Messrs J. Flint, E. Kerr, and A. Pettit played a trio of Scottish airs, and the programme was further varied by a sword dance and a Highland fling danced by Miss Pearl MTvellar. Mr A. G. Cre.rar recited ‘ Recollections of my Youth.’ The accompaniments were played hy Miss Wright, and Mr J. Paterson wielded the baton and supervised the mn sical arrangements. The concert was a decided success, each item being warmly applauded.
