REPUBLICANS STRONG FOR HIGH DUTIES. DEMOCRATS DETERMINED TO LOWER THEM. Press Association—By Teleg.-aph— Copyright. _ WASHINGTON, March 19. the Democratic majority on the House Committee of Ways and Means voted to make raw wool' dutiable at 15 per cent ad valorem, with substantial reductions on the present rates on woollen manufactures, ■the hues of the previous W r ool Bill that was vetoed oy Mr Taft were followed. The committee also placed meat on the free list, leaving cattle dutiable. The Democrats in both Houses have agreed to a plan of downward revision of the tariffs Harmony prevails in the Senate and the Lower House, the ’Senate agreeing to accept greater reductions than were approved last session. ,i'u°°li IS *‘k e l v lo bo hotly opposed by the Republicans.
