Convention was violated by the sender of a.telegram which was received aboard the s.s. Ulimaroa while she was lying at the Bluff on Monday. The sender- was evidently concerned about the delivery of the wire, for he added a. descriptive clause to the address, making it read " Bill ——, grey suit, Ulimaroa, Bluff." There were at the time when the wire was received about a dozen suits of different shades of grey in sight, and any of them might have been the sought-for "Bill." The sender also cast a very severe aspersion over his friend when he or Bhe implied that "Bill" owned only one suit; but the undisguised amusement of the officers who handled the missive was quite commensurate with any mortification that worthy may have felt when it was placed in his hands.. .__
