UNIVERSITY COUNCIL. The Council of the, University of Otago met this afternoon, the' Chancellor (Rev. A. Cameron) presiding. The Finance Committee reported that the receipts for the month were £2,146 7s 9d,_ and the expenditure £1,305 15s 2d, and the debit balance £1,440 16s 7d. They recommended that Mr J. Dunbar’s salary be increased to £225 per annum ■ without fees, and that Mr D. R. - While, juu.’s, salary be increased to £IOO per' annum. They also recommended that the request of the Hospital Board for one-third cost of 40 Leitz microscopes ordered for the pathological library dotal cost £135) bo agreed to. —Adopted. Mr H. D. Bedford wrote agrpeing to lecture on history for one year, he to receive, the fees.
