RAY BEATS VARDON. Playing last week at the opening of’the Prestatyn (Wales) Golf Club, Edward Ray. the open champion, defeated Harry Vardon 6 up, 5 to play, and by 70 to 72. ST. CLAIR. LADIES. Miss M. Law, Miss Taine v. Mrs Gilrav. •GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. At the request of the Otago Golf Club the council of the New Zealand Golf Association have decided to alter the dates of the next championship meeting from September 15 to October 13 and following days. The Otago Club asked for the postponement, as their greens could not possibly be ready by September 15, and on the matter being referred to them affiliated chibs were practically unanimous in .affirming the opinion of the council as to .the advisability of acceding to the request. On the motion of Mr H. C. Clark (Auckland). seconded by Mr M. W. Horton (Greymouth),-it was decided to accede to the request.
