Om* Lawrence correspondent informs ns that the Golden Run dredge (Island Block) obtained 148oz of gold last week,, and that the last three returns have aggregated over 400oz. Ihe dredge has now reached ground that gave splendid results when boring operations were carried out a year or two ago by Sir das. M. Stewart. The ground is deep, and is not got over very rapidly by the dredge, but nevertheless a few returns like that obtained last week must be very encouraging to shareholders. It is reported that one of the Dunedin shareholders who held a very large interest in the company recently'disposed of his shares at 10s per share. The market value of the shares has risen verv considerably during ihe last week or two. The Golden Crescent Sluicing Company’s claim, Wetherstones, owing to the dryness ot the season and a shortage of water, has been idle for the last three weeks. The manager is taking advantage of the dry spell to push on with the construction of a. storage dam which was put in hand two or three months ago. Ihe Rise and Shine !No. 1 dredge will drop down about 50 chains this week, in order to take up the cut parallel to the one completou last September.
