THE YIGAR'S LESSON. Tile rector of a small village in Ireland recently met one of Ins parishioners who was a fanner and a great dog fancier, and who was a n j a Sla*« of whisky. As thej r walked together awhile the rector, admirin'* some of the dogs he had with him, said to the farmer: “ Did you ever hear that by giving a pup whisky you kept him from growing?" the farmer, “and I tried it. “With what results?” “The pup died.” „ " v ll( I now, my friend," said ihe rector, wasn’t that a good lesson for yon?” “Bedad, it was, sir, for I have never wasted a drop of good whisky on anv of my dogs since.’*
