Vanilla i:-: an orchid which, in the West Indies, creeps over trees and walls like ivv. A substance called “ Salop.” somewhat resembling arrowroot or sago, is obtained from the tubers cf a /variety that prows in Turkey •and Persia, where it is highly esteemed.
