The second day's play i u (ht> international lawn tennis match British Isles v . New Zealand drew a large attendance to Lancaster Park, Christchurch, on Batnrriay. Olliviers win o\er Beamish iu the dingles was the first achieved by a Now Zealander against any member of * the Lavis Cup team. Oliivier served beautifully, lasted well, and played steadily to the end._ At the right moment ho found his staying power, .and finished V erv strongly. Beamish, played wo]], but did not show much dash in the final set Dixon (Britain) heat F. M, B. Fisher (New Zealand), 6-1, 6-1, 7>-6, 6-3. In the Doubles Parke and Lowe (Britain) beat Oliivier and Goss (New Zea-4-6, 6-1,_ 6-4. Parke and Beamish (Britain) beat .'.mansion and Fisher (Xew Zealand), 6 2, 5-3.
