NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM WIN. Nearly 40,000 people were present at tho Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday night to witness the finish of the six days’ race. There was some splendid sprinting through ■* out the day, and in the last few laps the pace was terrific. The over-lapped teams retired just, before the close. A great fight among the remainder resulted in M/Naraara (New South Wales) eventually Keating Spears (New South Wales) arid Scott (Tasmania) by half a length amid, great excitement.. Tho distance covered was 1.833 miles. The teams finished in the following order : R. -I. M’Namara and F. P. Carry (New South Wales) 1 R. Spears (Now South Wales) and Kirkbam (Victoria) 2 Scott (New South Wales) and F. T. Koefe (Tasmania) 3 A. 1.. Crook and P. B. Henry (New South Wales) 4 P. O’Shea a.nd A. 1?. L. Smith (New Zealand) were sixth. The overlapped teams, including J. T. Summers (New Zealand) and N. Russell (New South Wales) tied for eighth place with. 1,852 miles 2 laps. Spears beat M’Namara, in tbs sprint, to the 1,800 miles mark. Tho winners’ record is 255 miles behind last year’s, when, the event was won by the Victorian pair, Goullct and Hcbir. with 2.086 miles.
