(Received January 4, at 9.20 a.m.) Details have been received of the murder of the two brothers Weber at Rooke Island, ir; German New Guinea, two months ago. Ernest Weber was formerly connected with tbe German Missionary Society, but he severed Ins co inection and visited Germany. He returned a year ago with his wife, child, and brother, snd established a trading station on the island. One morning, the islanders, when li ne( ] vp for work, attacked and butchered tile brothers and their Chinese overseer. Mis Weber and the child, who wore absent at the time, escaped. Robbery seems to have been the object, as the natives looted the Wt hers' lnu>.e and store?.
