The working of the grading system for the promotion of teachers was the subject of inquiry by a committee of the Auckland district branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. This committee submitted a report to a special meeting on Saturday. The report made various recommendations, one of the principal being that men and women teachers be graded .on separate lists. This recommendation was negatived, an amendment to the effect that both sexes be graded on one list being carried. The meeting also decided in favor of the appeal board being the board of inspectors.
