. WELLINGTON, December 21. Cabinet- yesterday decided, in accordance with tho recommendations of tho Parliamentary Committee that inquired into the position of Messrs M‘Lean Bros, in relation to the Olira tunnel works, to cancel the contract. Yl’Lean Bros, will carry on the work till Christmas, thou the Public Works Department will take it over and continue operations. Subsequently fresh tenders will be_ invited for tho completion of the undertaking. Pending acceptance of such a tender the Government will keep tho work going.
