(Received December 21, at 9.40 a.m.) The case of tho monk Hlodor, who is closely confined at Nijni-Novgorod, is assuming sensational proportions. Several newspapers have been prosecuted for publishing Illotlor’s pronouncements. ’ Eight thousand followers liave notified the Synod of tbeir intention to leave tho Orthodox Church. Tire Synod decided to unfrock Hlodor, whose followers are pressing tho Duma to secure the monk a public trial. _ [Hlodor, 6r Heliodorns, came into notoliety last year. Owing to bis ■ eccentric conduct the ■ Synod ordered his removal from Tsaritsyn. Heliodorus fortified himself in his church, and successfully defied the Synod for two months, at the end of which time, at the Tsar's wish, tho order for his removal was withdrawn.]
