l'he master of the Good Chance dredge reports that prospects improved a littletowards the end of the week. The dredge worked ahead 14ft on a. cut 35ft wid*?. The ground is very rough, and hard on the machinery. Tho Karaunui dredge- had a, good Tun for tiro past week, prospects remaining much about the same. The height of face above water level is about 45ft, and hehnv water level from 33ft to 45ft. The. bottom, -which consists of coal formation, has risen a little towards the inside of the cut. Both inachiniee axe vrvrkms well.
