PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.
[Special to the Star.] WELLINGTON. August 26. Thfl Prime Minister received a deputation from the Wellington Proportional Representation League to-day. One speaker suggested that the experiment be tried in local body elections, a Bill of a permissive (not of 'a mandatory) character to be passed. Mr in reply, said the suggestion appealed strongly to him. He would have, vevy groat pleasure in placing the matter before the Cabinet. On the general question he hoped the efforts of the deputation would have good results.
