WRESTLING. Cabled from New York that Gotch defeated .[esse Westergaard at Kansas City, securing two .straight-out falls, th;* fhv-t in 21min 25sec and tne second in 9min 27sec. BOXING. The promoters of the Johnson-Jeanette fight, .after a conference at tho Athletic Club, declared the fight off. The club declare that no pressure was brought to bear to induce the cancellation of the tight. It was simply desired not to allow Johnson to appear in any ring m New York State. OTAGO HUNT. The executive of the Otago Hunt met la.-t evening. Mr B. S. Irwin presiding. The Secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club wrote that his committee, had approved ef the programme for the- Hunt racei>. and, further, that permission for holding them at Wingatui had been granted. The Minister of Internal Affairs advised that the application for the Hunt to conduct races on September 14 would receive consideration. The District Traffic Manager of Railways stated that a special train would be arranged for to leave for the racecourse at 1.35 p.m. In reference to the club's application for affiliation to the New Zealand Hunt's Association, Dr Thomas (secretary of the South Canterbury Hunt) stated that ho was in communication with Mr 1. T>. Starkey (president), and 'that the. application would be put in order in tho course of a few davs. Mr T. T" Ritchie intimated that the Otago Agricultural, and Pastoral Soclety had"decided to put on their programme two special events for members of the Otago Hunt—viz.. Hunters.' event over hurdles ami one over a variety of jumps -both for qualified hunters of tho Otago Hunt. Mr R. Young. Middlemarch, advised that all arrangements in connection with the hunt to be held in the district were complete. Owing to the huntsman's contract expiring on the 31st, it was decided to leave the, arrangements for maintaining the pack during the summer in the hands of the master and deputy-master. It was reported that the arrangements for the Hunt Steeplechase Meeting on September 14 were well forward. The meeting decided to extend the receipt of nominations and acceptances on August 31 and September 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
