(Continued from page 6.) The evidence of Adolph A. Booth, a Harbor Board employee, showed that deceased was quite sober, and. that he managed to keep afloat until witness was within 20ydeof him. Witnees indeed said that had he had a lighter boat he might have saved him. Taiaroa was fully dressed and had yum boots on. i-'eiYjeant Henry, who recovered the body,°deposed that the right boot was partly off, as if 'deceased had tried to draw it off his foot; and the right sleeve was also partly out. His cap was in his hand. An examination of the hunch showed that the sacks were so disposed that no passage could have been made on the starboard side. On the port side (where deceased attempted to pass) there was just room t'> .'ret along with the boat lying at anchor. "lam of opinion," said the sergeant, " that in the choppy sea he could not pass; it took us all our time to do so when she was in smooth water." V verdict of "Accidental drowning " was returned.
